FOIA Software That Helps You Respond Faster, Redact Smarter, and Stay in Control

Faster FOIA

FOIA requests move fast. Manual workflows do not. Logikcull by Premier gives government agencies, municipalities, legal teams, and records professionals a faster way to collect, search, review, redact, and produce responsive records—without the chaos of legacy tools or endless vendor delays.

FOIA Review Platform

The Freedom of Information Act, or FOIA, is the law that gives the public the right to request access to federal agency records, unless those records fall within one of the law’s exemptions.
In practice, FOIA response work often turns into an eDiscovery problem: large volumes of email, attachments, PDFs, spreadsheets, chat exports, and mixed file types must be searched, reviewed, redacted, and produced accurately under pressure. FOIA.gov describes FOIA as the public’s right to request agency records, and DOJ guidance states agencies are generally required to respond within 20 business days unless unusual circumstances apply.

Why FOIA

✔ Search and review records in one platform

✔ Apply redactions faster and more consistently

✔ Reduce backlog without adding complexity

✔ Keep legal, records, and compliance teams in control

✔ Get expert workflow support from Premier when deadlines tighten

What Is FOIA?

FOIA stands for the Freedom of Information Act. It is a federal law, in effect since 1967, that gives the public the right to request access to records from federal agencies. Agencies are generally required to disclose requested records unless they fall within one of nine exemptions, including categories such as personal privacy, law enforcement, and national security. While FOIA is a federal law, many states and local governments operate under similar open-records or sunshine-law frameworks that create the same practical burden: find the records, review the records, protect sensitive information, and produce what must be disclosed.

FOIA on paper sounds simple. FOIA in practice is operationally heavy.

Requests often require teams to locate records across multiple custodians, isolate what is responsive, identify sensitive content, redact protected information, and deliver productions on deadline.

WHY FOIA BECOMES AN EDISCOVERY PROBLEM

Most FOIA teams are not struggling because they do not understand the law. They are struggling because the workflow is difficult.

Too Much Data

Email chains, attachments, exported folders, scanned PDFs, spreadsheets, images, and loose documents create a review set that quickly becomes too large for shared drives, inbox folders, and manual review.

Too Much Risk

Sensitive personal information, employee data, investigative material, privileged content, and exempt records must be reviewed carefully before release. One missed redaction can create legal, reputational, and operational damage.

Too Little Time

Deadlines are real. Backlogs grow. Staff is limited. IT does not want to spend its week pulling records. Legal does not want to manage review out of email and spreadsheets. Everyone needs a process that is faster and more defensible.

That is why FOIA work increasingly looks like eDiscovery: it requires defensible collection, smart filtering, rapid review, consistent redaction, and clean production.

How Logikcull Solves FOIA eDiscovery Problems

Logikcull was built to make review work faster, simpler, and more manageable. Logikcull’s own government and open-records materials highlight streamlined review, bulk PII detection and redaction, fast search, and lower-friction productions for public-records workflows.

Centralize the Review Process

Instead of juggling email exports, folders, spreadsheets, and disconnected redaction tools, your team can bring records into one secure review workspace. Search, cull, review, tag, redact, and produce from one platform.

Find Responsive Records Faster

Use filtering, search, and structured review workflows to narrow the universe of data quickly. Teams spend less time opening files one by one and more time getting to responsive information.

Redact Sensitive Information More Efficiently

FOIA responses frequently require careful protection of personally identifiable information and other exempt content. Logikcull’s open-records positioning emphasizes automated PII detection and redaction workflows that help teams work faster and more consistently.

Create Cleaner Productions

Once review is complete, productions can be generated in a more organized, repeatable way. That means less scrambling at the end of the process and more confidence in what is being delivered.

Reduce Dependence on IT and Outside Vendors

FOIA teams often lose time waiting on technical exports or paying outside vendors to perform tasks that should be routine. Logikcull is designed to reduce that friction and give legal and records teams more direct control. Logikcull by Premier’s government page specifically positions the platform as a way to free IT from constant firefighting and reduce unpredictable vendor costs.
